This tour is based in Ypres where you will be able to visit the Menin Gate to join in the evening ceremony of remembrance for all those who have no known grave. We shall also take the opportunity to visit Dunkirk made famous in World War II.

Tour Breakdown

Monday - An early start for Dover to catch the ferry to France. We then travel to Ypres, Belgium and our hotel. This is situated 100 yds from the main square and a selection of cafes and restaurants where you will find somewhere to eat.

Tuesday - This morning we visit the \'In Flanders Fields Museum\' (entrance included) and explore the town centre. In the afternoon, with our local guide on board, we tour the 14-18 Route, stopping at such places as Hill 62 - Sanctuary Wood Museum, Hooge Crater Museum and Tyne Cot Cemetery at Passchendaele. In the evening you can witness the Last Post Ceremony at the Menin Gate. This is only a five minute walk from the hotel.

Wednesday - A full day with our guide, heading into France and the Somme. We will visit Albert and the Lochnagar crater at La Boisselle, the infamous Delville Wood, Thiepval Memorial, Ulster Park and Newfoundland Park. We return via Vimy Ridge, the Canadian memorial.

Thursday - Today we visit Dunkirk, scene of the dramatic rescue of British troops in 1940. Then we will drive the short distance to the Belgian coastal town of De Panne. We shall have time for some shopping before returning to Ypres.

Friday - Sadly we must leave the pretty town of Ypres and start our journey home, crossing on the ferry to Dover and onwards to the West Country arriving home in the early evening.
